What the HEIC is āHEICā?
HEIC stands for High Efficiency Image Coding (HEIC). Itās an innovative image encoding format that was recently designed to replace the aging JPEG standard aging back to 1992. HEIC offers both the much higher compression rate and greater image quality compared to JPEG. All in all, HEIC is a much more technologically advanced and a significantly better format than JPEG. However, HEIC is still new.
While natively supported on most iPhones and Android smartphones, many legacy apps and Windows programs still lack proper HEIC support. For these apps, converting HEIC images into the more conventional JPEG format is required. For this purpose, we developed HEIC to JPG Converter, a Windows tool whose single reason for existence is converting HEIC images into JPEgs.
